> **TL;DR: How to Find Leads Without Sales Nav**
>
> - **The Problem:** Most lead gen tools force you to buy a $99/mo Sales Navigator subscription just to work.
> - **Method 1:** Use Google X-Ray search (`site:linkedin.com/in "Founder" "SaaS"`) to bypass LinkedIn’s commercial use limit entirely.
> - **Method 2:** Master free LinkedIn Boolean logic (AND, OR, NOT) and the “2nd-degree connections” filter to clean up your search results.
> - **The Better Way:** Use Leedlime. You write a plain English ICP description, and Leedlime finds the live profiles and verified emails directly. It replaces Sales Nav entirely for $20/month.

If you’re running outbound for a B2B SaaS or agency, you’ve probably hit the “LinkedIn Tax.”

It usually happens right as you start to scale. You hit the commercial use limit on your free account. LinkedIn blurs out the names. And suddenly, you’re forced into paying $99 a month for Sales Navigator.

That’s $1,200 a year before you’ve even sent a single cold email.

To make matters worse, most modern lead generation tools (like Evaboot or PhantomBuster) are built on top of Sales Navigator. So not only are you paying for the scraper, but you’re also forced to keep paying the $99/mo LinkedIn Tax just to make the scraper work.

You don’t actually need Sales Navigator to find high quality leads. Here’s exactly how to bypass the paywall and find B2B leads for free in 2026.

---

## Method 1: The Google X-Ray Search

LinkedIn heavily restricts how many searches you can run on a free account. But Google does not.

Because LinkedIn profiles are public web pages, Google indexes almost all of them. This means you can use Google’s advanced search operators (known as X-Ray searching) to find specific LinkedIn profiles without ever touching LinkedIn’s search bar.

To do this, you use the `site:` operator.

If you type `site:linkedin.com/in` into Google, you are telling Google to only return search results that are individual LinkedIn profiles. From there, you just add your keywords.

**Example 1: Finding SaaS Founders** Type this exactly into Google: `site:linkedin.com/in "Founder" AND "SaaS" AND "San Francisco"`

**Example 2: Finding Marketing VPs** `site:linkedin.com/in "VP of Marketing" OR "Chief Marketing Officer" NOT "Assistant"`

Google will return a list of profiles that match exactly what you are looking for. You can click on them, open the profiles in new tabs, and extract their data manually. Since you are finding them via Google, it does not trigger LinkedIn’s commercial use limit for searching.

The downside? It’s incredibly tedious. You’re essentially doing data entry, opening tabs one by one, and you still have to figure out how to guess or find their work email addresses.

---

## Method 2: Mastering the Free LinkedIn Search

If you prefer to stay inside LinkedIn, you can still get a lot of value out of a free account if you know where the hidden filters are.

Most people just type a job title into the top search bar and hit enter. That is the fastest way to hit your monthly search limit with garbage results. Instead, you need to use Boolean logic (AND, OR, NOT) combined with specific free filters.

### Use the “2nd Degree” Filter

On a free account, your most valuable filter is the “Connection Degree” filter. Specifically, the 2nd-degree option.

When you reach out to 3rd-degree strangers, your acceptance rate is low. But 2nd-degree connections (people who share a mutual friend with you) accept requests at nearly double the rate. Before you save any search, always set the connection degree filter to 2nd. This protects your account health and maximizes the limited outreach you can do on a free tier.

### The “Janitor” Boolean Method

Use Boolean logic to clean up your list. The `NOT` operator is your best friend here.

If you are searching for Founders, you will inevitably pull in people who are “Founders of a student club” or “Freelance Founders.”

Clean the list by searching: `(Founder OR CEO) NOT (Intern OR Freelance OR Student OR Consultant)`

This sweeps out the noise, ensuring that the few searches you’re allowed to run on a free account are actually returning qualified decision makers.

### The Creator Hack (Followers Of)

Here’s a filter most people never find: buried inside “All Filters” on a People search, LinkedIn offers a “Followers of” option. You type in any LinkedIn creator’s name, and you instantly get a list of everyone who follows them.

This is incredibly powerful because you’re borrowing the trust and relevance of an industry influencer. If you’re selling sales software, search for a well-known sales influencer. Their followers are overwhelmingly sales reps and revenue leaders. That’s your ICP, pre-filtered for you for free.

---

## The Better Way: Replacing Sales Nav Entirely

X-Ray searches and Boolean logic are great free workarounds. But at a certain point, manual data entry stops scaling.

When founders get tired of copying and pasting from Google, they usually give up and buy Sales Navigator plus a scraping tool. That takes their cost from $0 to $150+ per month instantly.

We built [Leedlime](https://leedlime.com) to solve exactly this problem.

Leedlime is a discovery engine that completely replaces the need for a Sales Navigator subscription. Instead of wrestling with Boolean strings or paying the $1,200/year LinkedIn Tax, you simply talk to Leedlime like a human.

You write an Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) description in plain English. For example: “I am looking for VP of Sales at mid-sized SaaS companies in Texas who are hiring.”

Leedlime translates that description, runs the search directly against live LinkedIn profiles, and returns a clean, verified list of matching leads. It even finds and verifies their work email addresses automatically.

You don’t need to install a Chrome extension. You don’t need to leave your browser open. And most importantly, you don’t need a Sales Navigator account.

### The True Cost Comparison

- **The Old Way:** Sales Navigator ($99/mo) + Basic Scraper ($49/mo) + Email Verifier ($20/mo) = **$168/month**
- **The Leedlime Way:** **$20/month** on the Starter plan.

For $20 a month, Leedlime handles the discovery, the scraping, and the email verification all in one place. It’s the shortest path between knowing who you want to sell to, and actually having their verified email address in your CRM.

Stop paying the LinkedIn Tax just to prospect.
